UPPSC Prelims Syllabus 2025

The Prelims is a screening stage — marks obtained here won’t count toward the final merit. It includes two objective papers:

UPPSC Mains Syllabus 2025

The Mains stage includes eight descriptive papers, which play a critical role in the final merit list.

GS Paper 1

Focus on Indian culture, freedom struggle, modern history, and physical geography. Also includes society-related topics, global history, and the impact of liberalization and globalization.

GS Paper 2

Covers Constitution, governance, comparison with other democracies, federal structure, and roles of executive, legislature, and judiciary.

GS Paper 3

Touches on economy, agriculture, science & tech, environment, internal security, and disaster management.

GS Paper 4

Dedicated to ethics, integrity, attitude, emotional intelligence, and case studies on public service values and governance.

GS Paper 5

Exclusive to Uttar Pradesh: history, politics, freedom fighters, public administration, local governance, health, education, and culture of the state.

GS Paper 6

Also UP-centric: state economy, agriculture, industrial growth, infrastructure, tourism, natural resources, and technology advancement in UP.


Major Update: Optional Subjects Removed

This time, optional papers won’t be part of the Mains. Instead, the commission has introduced two new papers (GS Paper V and VI) focusing solely on Uttar Pradesh-specific General Knowledge.
