SSC MTS 2025 Exam Pattern and Syllabus – All You Need to Know

The Staff Selection Commission (SSC) has introduced major changes in the SSC MTS (Multi-Tasking Staff) exam pattern for 2025. One of the biggest updates this year is the removal of the Tier 2 examination. The recruitment process will now involve a single Computer-Based Test (CBT), making the selection process more streamlined.

This examination will be conducted in 15 different languages, including Hindi, English, and several regional languages—aiming to make the process more inclusive.

Who is the Exam For?

This recruitment drive is conducted to fill various Group ‘C’ Non-Gazetted, Non-Ministerial positions under the Government of India. These include:

  • Multi-Tasking Staff (Non-Technical) in various central ministries, departments, and constitutional/statutory bodies.
  • Havaldar positions in the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) and the Central Bureau of Narcotics (CBN).

SSC MTS 2025: Revised Exam Stages

Here’s a step-by-step look at the selection process for 2025.

  • Stage 1: Computer-Based Examination (CBT) – Mandatory for all candidates.
  • Stage 2: Only Havaldar applicants are eligible, which consists of the Physical Efficiency and Standard Tests.
  • Stage 3: Document Verification for shortlisted candidates.

There will be separate final selections for candidates aged 18–25 years and 18–27 years.


SSC MTS CBT 2025: New Structure

This year, the CBT will be conducted in two sessions, both of which are mandatory.

Session 1 (45 minutes):

  1. Math Section: 20 questions, 60 marks in total.
  2. Reasoning Skills: 20 questions, total 60 marks.

Session 2 (45 minutes):

  1. General Awareness – 25 Questions (75 Marks)
  2. English Language: 25 questions, worth 75 marks.

Important: Scribe-eligible candidates will have 60 minutes per session.


Important Changes to Keep in Mind

  • No Negative Marking in Session-I.
  • Negative Marking in Session-II: 1 mark will be deducted for every wrong answer.
  • Minimum Qualifying Marks:
    • UR: 30%
    • OBC/EWS: 25%
    • Others: 20%

SSC MTS Exam Languages

The question paper will be available in 15 languages, including Hindi, English, Bengali, Tamil, Telugu, Marathi, Urdu, and more—offering broader accessibility to candidates across India.


SSC Havaldar PET/PST 2025 Details

Only candidates applying for the Havaldar posts must appear for Physical Tests.

Physical Efficiency Test (PET)

  • Male: Walk 1600 meters in 15 minutes
  • Female: Walk 1 km in 20 minutes

Final Selection and Allocation

The final selection for SSC MTS will be based on:

  • Performance in Session-II of CBT

  • Age group (separate cut-offs for 18–25 and 18–27 years)

Ministries/Departments will be allocated by SSC regional offices using standard procedures.
