RRB ALP recruitment 2025: The Railway Recruitment Board (RRB) has come out with a final announcement of the highly anticipated RRB ALP (Assistant Loco Pilot) recruitment for 2025, filling 9,970 posts on different zonal railways of India. This recruitment process, being held through a Centralized Employment Notification (CEN), is a valuable chance for prospective candidates to get recruited in the Indian Railways. The official advertisement for the recruitment is out, and online applications would be invited from April 10, 2025.

This is a big recruitment drive where vacancies for Assistant Loco Pilot are being filled in different parts of the Indian Railways. Candidates with the minimum required educational qualifications and other eligibility parameters are eligible to apply for these vacancies. There will be several stages in the selection process, such as a Computer-Based Test (CBT), Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT), document verification, and a medical exam.

Vacancies and eligibility criteria

There are 9,970 Assistant Loco Pilot vacancies in the Indian Railways. The vacancies are spread across various zonal railways, with some of the biggest allocations in East Coast Railway, Eastern Railway, and South Eastern Railway.
Applicants willing to apply for the posts should have 10th class education and an ITI qualification in the concerned trade, or a Diploma/Degree in Engineering in a concerned discipline. The candidates should also be between 18 and 30 years as of July 1, 2025, with relaxation to reserved categories.

Selection process and exam pattern

The recruitment process for RRB ALP 2025 will be a multi-stage one. The first is the Computer-Based Test (CBT 1), which is a qualifying test. Successful candidates in CBT 1 will move to CBT 2, and then the Computer-Based Aptitude Test (CBAT). Document verification and medical examination are the last stages.

The pattern of the CBT 1 contains 75 questions in Mathematics, General Intelligence and Reasoning, General Science, and General Awareness. The CBT 2 is more specific with a combination of technical facts and general topics. The candidates will be assessed on the basis of their performance at the levels, with the final list of merit considering the score of CBT 2 and CBAT performance.

How to apply

Eligible candidates can register online through the official RRB website (www.indianrailways.gov.in). The application process will commence on April 10, 2025, and the cut-off date is May 9, 2025. A fee has to be paid through the application, which is Rs500 for OBC/General candidates and Rs250 for SC/ST/PwBD/Ex-Servicemen candidates.
