RRB ALP 2025 Notification Released

The official advertisement for recruitment was released on 24th March, 2025, in an employment gazette under CEN No. 1/2025. The advertisement provides a short overview of the recruitment process, i.e., the number of vacancies, selection procedure, and requirements. Vacancies & Eligibility Criteria
9,900 vacancies have been announced for the ALP post. The vacancies are distributed over 21 RRB zones, and the information will be provided in the detailed notice.
Educational Qualifications:
The candidate must possess one of the following qualifications to be eligible for the ALP post:
Matriculation (10th) or SSLC with an ITI certificate in requisite trades such as Electrician, Fitter, Mechanic, etc.
Act Apprenticeship in requisite trades.
Diploma in Automobile Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or Mechanical Engineering.
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering in the respective fields.
Age Limit:
The applicants should be between 18 and 33 years old as of July 1, 2025. That is, the date of birth should be between July 2, 1991, and July 1, 2006. Age relaxations are, however, applicable to candidates falling under reserved categories as per government guidelines.
Application Process & Fees
The application process for the RRB ALP 2025 exam will be entirely online. Candidates will need to visit the official RRB website, fill the online application form, upload necessary documents, and pay the application fee on or before the last date.

Selection Process & Exam Pattern
The selection process consists of four phases:
CBT 1 (Computer-Based Test 1)
- Number of Questions: 75
- Duration: 60 minutes
- Subjects Covered: Mathematics, Reasoning, General Science, Current Affairs
- Negative Marking: Yes (1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer)
CBT 2 (Computer-Based Test 2)
- Divided into two parts:
- Part A: 100 marks, 90 minutes (Mathematics, Reasoning, Science, Current Affairs, Relevant Trade)
- Part B: 75 marks, 60 minutes (Relevant Trade Knowledge)
CBAT (Computer-Based Aptitude Test)
- Only for ALP candidates.
- No negative marking.
Document Verification & Medical Test
- The candidates should be of A-1 medical standard with good eyesight and good physical fitness.
Salary & Benefits
The pay of an Assistant Loco Pilot (ALP) in Indian Railways is ₹19,900 per month according to the 7th Pay Commission. But after promotions and experience, the pay can reach up to ₹35,000 per month or more.
